GIS Operator and GIS Expert Draft Professional Standards Presented to the Public Opinion
Geographic information systems, having a very wide use around the world, are also being used in different professional disciplines including public institutions and organizations, local governments, universities and private sector institutions in our country.
In studies in geographic information systems, the lack of personnel who are experienced about the basic principles, strategies and techniques of data management, having skills about analytical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making techniques, is felt.
For this purpose, in order to prepare professional standards and competencies for GIS Operator (Level 4) and GIS Expert (Level 6), a protocol was signed between our Ministry and Vocational Qualifications Authority and preparation of the standards process initiated.
Contributions to the said studies of standards are important to improve the quality and acceptability of the standards. Opinions and proposals on the draft professional standards should be sent to the e-mail address yildiz.iravul@csb.gov.tr until 28.10.2013, by filling Feedback and Evaluation Form.
